You can choose from two main vibes at Cafe Balearica. Upstairs, you have a spacious, somewhat relaxed bar and lounge area. The music is at a low enough volume that you can hear your conversations, it doesn't get too crowded so you can spread out, even if you're in a large group. Downstairs, it's a lot tighter, with a DJ, dance floor, lounge seating area, and a much more packed and busy atmosphere on the weekends. I like ping ponging between both vibes when I'm with friends. Admittedly I've found the music both times to be too experimental for me. Confessing that makes me feel like an old person shaking my fist or at least shaking my head, misunderstanding what makes the youth tick. But I had no trouble twirling around the dance floor to this weird experimental music after throwing back a few tequila sodas upstairs. A few times while here my friends have split up into the group that wants to go downstairs to dance and the group that wants to stay upstairs and chill. It's relatively easy to navigate between both vibes, which I enjoy about this spot very much.

Cute spot for a drink in the Williamsburg area. Drinks were good and so was the service. We had a larger crowd and we got two booths. They play bingo for fun, and the hosts were really funny.

Do you ever planning on having a wine night with your bestie and before you know it you find ourself on an impromptu night out? This is how I ended up at Cafe Balearica. To be fair, impromptu nights are always more fun than planned ones (sorry not sorry). We pulled up....very late. Don't know how long they stay open but it was definitely past 1 am which is really when things get good in my very humble opinion. Either way, I think there is usually a $10 cover (has to be cash) or maybe you'll get lucky and they won't make you pay?? Either way, the dance floor is downstairs while the main floor is a typical bar. Spent 0 time in the bar and went straight to dance. I had a fun time here and think I'll be back, it was clean, bartenders nice, and I felt comfortable/safe despite the fact that I was with only one other girl. Excited to be back here earlier in the evening on another night!
